Drop Shipping things to Research
-You need to know who you are working with, do some research on your proposed supplier/s. Read some reviews, it is impossible to keep everyone happy there will be a bad review or 2 if you look hard enough but you need to keep looking make sure overall they have a good rep with the general community. Work out any fees associated with them such as membership fees (some sites will not charge a membership fee however its not uncommon to see them making up for it with things like p/h ect), average postage costs, processing/delivery times and anything else that may push up the cost of working with them or increase the time between your customer placing an order and receiving the product. -You need to know what it is you are interested in selling. Choose a category odds are you are better off with a bit of variety so choose more then one product but keep them relevant. In a lot of cases you will never actually touch what you are selling so learn the features, how to use it, trouble shooting and anything else that might be relevant keep in mind the customer will be talking to you so you not only need to sell the product but you need to be able to offer support. You want your customer to return and even bring there friends. You also want to make sure you product is selling you do not want to be putting money into something no one wants to buy. I would also suggest you to have a look at the competitor’s prices. You are going to have to undercut everyone to attract business. Once you have some loyal customers maybe you will not have to be so strict with competition but if you’re here they have a list of regulars and you do not. Make sure you can see a profit between the prices you are buying at and selling at, keep in mind the fees we talked about above. -Who are you going to sell it to, work out what sort of person is going to buy your products of choice and advertise towards them, cater as much as you can from your site appearance, your advertisements, any advertisements you may have promoting someone else, you can even go as far to the sort of language you want to have item description in (eg: a young teen might like a description that consists of current slang were as a more profession person may not show the same respect for the same description)and anything else you can think of, you want your customer to be comfortable. -How are you going to sell your product? There are many options for this such as eBay, newspaper, setting up your own website, some people get brochures printed and more. Work out which one suits you the most (keep in mind depending on your choice will depend on the hurdles you need to clear for example making you own website will take more work then say an eBay store because you need to advertise more. They can also open other opportunities for example a website has plenty of space for affiliate marketing.). Do not rule the others out expending your business could be quite a successful move so keep all opportunities in mind. Also consider the fees associated with this and how that may affect your pricing. -Keep a record of what you sell. This can come in handy choosing what products you are going to sell next. Also depending on your area and how much profit you make you maybe required to pay tax. -Think of expanding there are many ways you can do this. You can look into a bigger list of products, multiple categories, more ways to reach your customer and many more.
